Finding Peace Through Decluttering

Disclosure: I was provided product to review from SONGMICS, but all opinions are my own.

I truly hate cleaning. I absolutely detest having to pick up and put things away. And anyone out there who has kids will tell you; that’s about 70% of parenting. The other 30% is split between yelling at those same kids for the mess they made, and you’re about to pick up; yelling for them to stop fighting; yelling at them to quiet down; yelling….well….just more yelling.

But, the thing I hate more than having to pick up after others is…a mess. I can’t stand mess!!

I blame it mostly on time spent in the military. I was never a super-organized kid, but once I entered the military; all it took was 2 or 3 times being screamed at by a very large Drill Sergeant, followed by 30 minutes of continuous exercise (it was called being smoked back in my day), and that bad habit got nipped in the bud real quick.

Unfortunately, most the people I know didn’t benefit from being yelled at large men in big brown hats. So, when I returned home, I found I surrounded by a world of slobs. Ok, maybe that’s a bit harsh, but still, how hard is it to pick up after yourself once in a while?

And now that I have kids, it feels like I’ve become the screaming Drill Sergeant, and my kids are the dummy soldiers I need to mold into respectable members of society.

It’s only gotten worse now that I’m going through a divorce…but still live with the person I’m separating from. To make living a little less awkward, I relocated to out finished basement. Truth be told, I’ve lived down here since our daughter was born 2 years ago…but now, all of my belongings are down here. So, if the stress of a divorce isn’t enough – now I’m surrounded by clutter.

That’s when the people from SONGMICS swooped in like a n organization fairy, and hooked me up with a lifesaver…a lifesaver in the for of…

The 43″ Portable Clothes Closet Wardrobe. This thing is awesome. First off, SONGMICS is affiliated with Amazon, so you know it showed up about 2 minutes after I was told it was on it’s way…ok, not that fast, but you know what I’m saying.

To be honest, when the package arrived, I was a little skeptical on how reliable this product would…the box was so small.

I forged ahead however.

Right off the bat, I knew I was going to like putting this item together. I opened the box, and absolutely loved what I found; pure organization! Every part was neatly packaged with all the other like parts; making them easy to find. I was in my happy place.

With easy to follow instructions, and all the parts packaged together, I had the closet built in no time flat.

Now it was time to load this bad boy up with some clothing. And I did not hesitate.

Now my life is just a little less cluttered, and let me tell you…with everything going on in my life, that means everything.

SONGMICS is also awesome enough to hook one of my amazing followers up with a portable closet, just like the one I received. They’re perfect for extra storage around the house. So, hit up the giveaway below.

I wonder if that would have worked better than the cabinet we bought at Lowes to use for a closet in the teen’s room (old house, exceedingly small amount of closet space).

And I hear you on the needing organization… Walked into said teen’s room this weekend, and then walked back out b/c I was too overwhelmed to find a place to start. She’ll be helping tackle that this weekend.

It probably wouldn’t be as bad but the room is *tiny*, in addition to being an old house, it’s a small house, her room was actually added in the basement where there wasn’t mush room to start with, so it’s super small, so it doesn’t take much for it to seem like a tornado hit it. (I’m being naive, it would just be a bigger mess if it was a bigger room.)

Ive actually looked at something similar to this at Lowes. They’re really nifty but it was out of my budget at the time. I’d love to have one in the camper so i dont have to live out of a bag, or in the kid’s room. Holy crap does that kid have a lot of clothes. Lol
