Lately I’ve been trying to share some of my favorite musical influences with my son. I mean, there’s only so much of the annoying cartoon theme songs I can listen to. Cartoons these days are garbage.
The other day I picked up my son from pre-school. As we buckled up in the car and headed home, I popped on some music from the greatest decade of all – the 1980s. So you know what that means; power ballads, big voices, and most of all big hair!!
The first song that came on was “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister; he was instantly hooked. I’ll probably end up regretting this down the road (see teen years), but hey, for now hearing him walk around singing the hook is pretty awesome. The rest of the car ride was filled with ballads by Bon Jovi, Motley Crew, and many more.
So what does all this have to do with pizza? Well, growing up I always looked forward to Friday night, because that usually meant pizza night at my house, and many of those nights were Ellio’s Pizza and a movie. This is a tradition I have gladly carried over with my son. And what better way to keep tradition alive than with a good old fashion Ellio’s #80sPizzaParty; big hair and all.
After a long hard week, what feels better than coming home and rocking out with your mini-me? Well, maybe rocking out, and then eating pizza.
My son asked if we could put on the same music we listened to in the car as we made our pizza, and I don’t think I loved him any more than I did right then. I knew this was going to be the best pizza party we ever had!
We found our Ellio’s Pizza; popped it in the oven for about 13 minutes at 425 degrees, which gave us plenty of time to continue rocking out.
Once it was ready to go, I whipped up a couple salads to go along with the meal (because nothing says rock and roll like some salad), and we commenced in scarfing down our meal, like real rockers.
I love sharing all the cool aspects of my childhood with my son. The movies and music I watched/listened to are at the core of who I am, so it really makes me smile to see my son enjoy the same things I did as a little kid. That goes for Ellio’s too, because there is no better way to bond, or party, with someone than over some good food. And my son and I share a love for good pizza. Ellio’s uses only the freshest ingredients when making their pizza, which keeps us feeling good, and in turn keeps us rocking all night long.
So, the next time you’re looking to throw a pizza party, make sure to make it an #80sPizzaParty, and definitely make sure to make it an Ellio’s pizza party, because Ellio’s will make any party a rocking good time. Rock on everybody!
