Being a Dad in the modern world is one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. And since becoming a single parent, it’s become even more important to make the most of the time I spend with my kids. This means, I have had to seriously step up my planning game, as well as my level of being engaged. I dare say, getting divorced has actually helped me become a better father.
Bonding with your children is one of the most important things you can do, and it is so rewarding when it comes to developing the bond through shared interests, and fun activities. This is why parents need to make sure they do as much as they can to come up with great bonding ideas for spending time with their kids.
Look, I get it; hanging out with your kids isn’t always tops on your list of, “Fun Ideas for the Weekend.” And, I get there are days you just don’t have it to deal with them, but when I say, “Do as much as possible;” I’m honestly saying to just take a few minutes to cater your time together more towards them. It will make hanging out with your kids; at the very least…bearable.
Here are three ideas I have used to improve my bonding time with my kids, and make sure the times I’m with them are a bit less whining about being bored, and a little more enjoyable.
Play Video Games
That’s right…I’m saying, put a screen in front of your kid’s face. I can here the mob sharpening their sticks and lighting their torches now.
Calm down; I’m not saying stick your kids in front of screen for hours on end, so you can have unlimited peace and quiet…then again, that sounds pretty cool too.
One of the best ways, that I have recently found, to bond with my with my 7yo son, is through video games. He’s been watching me play them since he was born, and has always wanted to try, and what better way to at least have some sense of control over what he’s playing, seeing, learning, than to play along side him. This way, not only do we get to have fun together, but I’m there to answer any questions he has on content he may not understand. Bonding with your kids through toys is one of the best and easiest ways of being able to do this, and video games are a good start.
We play a lot of our games on our home computer; a Mac. And if you’re playing on your Mac, you need to make sure you fix the sound not working on Mac – Setapp so you can get the best outcome for your gaming. Or, you might like to consider console gaming, which can be a little more sociable for the bonding experience.
Have a Movie Night
A movie night is one of the best ways of being able to bond with your children in the right way. This is something you should keep in mind, and it’s something that’s fairly easy to achieve at home. You could pencil in a movie night, get some food and snacks ready, and, importantly, you need to make sure you choose the right movie as well. Let the kids pick so that they are excited about it, and you could even come up with a themed night to really go all out. This is something that can make a massive difference when you are trying to bond with your kids in the best possible way.
Enjoy a Day Out
There are a lot of different things you can do to achieve the right kind of bonding with your kids. One of the best things to keep in mind is the fact that you can have a great time together by going for a day out. You have to choose the perfect day out that allows you to bond together and make some new memories. This is something you’ve got to make sure you are focused on when it comes to hanging out with your kids. You don’t even have to spend a lot of money to achieve this, as you could do something like a picnic, or going to the beach.
It’s clear that there are a lot of things you need to do if you want to hang out with your kids in the most rewarding way. Choosing the best things to do together makes a big difference, so this is something you need to make sure you get right as much as possible. There are a lot of elements you need to keep in mind when you are trying to make sure you get the best bonding time with your kids.
