The holidays are a special time for so many reasons. For some, it’s spending time with family, and for others, it’s the joy of the winter weather. But for people like me, it’s all about the food.
I love to eat, especially foods of the sweet variety; the sweeter the better. Christmas brings out all my favorite sweet, tantalizing treats. Cookies, cakes, pies, you name, I’m eating it.
All the over-indulgence over the years (because let’s be honest, I don’t limit my slothly-habits to just the holidays. Just ask my waistline) has done a number on my intestinal functionality. Where I say my stomach gets upset from time to time after I eat, my wife preaches I have IBS. Because of my stomach issues, I’ve developed a very close relationship with Pepto-Bismol over the years – for both mine and my wife’s sake.
The Wife, being well aware of my outrageous sweet tooth, is always on the lookout, trying to thwart my quest for the sweet sweet taste of sweet. I feel like the father in a very popular Christmas movie; every time I get near the sweet stuff, I hear a her yell from the other room, “Get away from that food, you know your stomach can’t handle it!!”
But that’s where she’s wrong. As long as I have my fast acting #PinkRelief in a bottle by my side, I can handle anything. Pepto-Bismol, in my opinion, is the best option for relief from heartburn, indigestion, nausea, gas, pains from fullness, as well as diarrhea. Basically everything that will happen to your stomach from holiday overindulging. And don’t worry, if you can’t always carry a bottle with you, Pepto now comes in chewables too – this way you’ll never be without your relief.
And boy do I think I need all the available options after the New Year’s Day get-together my wife planned. To my surprise, the main detractor in my quest for sweet goodness overload, decided she wanted to have a cocoa and cookies open house on New Year’s Day this year. And not just any old cocoa either. Nope, my wife went all out. She got marshmallows, sweet chocolate sticks, peppermint candy canes, as well as sweet chocolate puffs to melt in your cocoa; oh the sweet sweet glory!
With all these sugary options, along with all the cookie-goodness our friends brought over, how could she not expect me to dive in? So I did what anyone else would; I unleashed my inner chubby 12yo self, and went to town on those treats.
It was a wonderful time had by all, and as far as my stomach goes…well, let’s just say, Pepto, a certain bathroom, and I have an overdue appointment later tonight.
Pepto-Bismol provided me with some samples of its product, as well as compensation for writing this post. All opinions — as well as discussion of my bodily functions — are 100% my own.
